Festival of Trees

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the theme for this year’s Festival of Trees?

This year’s theme is “Christmas at the North Pole.”

How do I bid online?

Please click on the How Online Bidding Works tab (above).

Can I contribute an item crafted with food?

Items crafted with unpackaged food, such as gingerbread houses where the food has been handled will not be permitted this year. Any item where there is potential for direct contact with the food product which may be consumed will not be allowed. Items crafted with packaged food will be permitted provided all items remain packaged.

Can I include food/beverages with my auction contribution?

Unopened, packaged food/beverage items purchased from a retail outlet may be included with auction contributions. For example, a movie-themed tree with unopened packages of popcorn, theater-style candies, etc. would be allowed. Home baked items are not allowed.

Where can I go to view the items available in the silent auction?

To view items in person please visit the Elko Conference Center located at 724 Moren Way during public viewing hours (see event schedule). Items may also be viewed 24/7 by clicking on the "View Items" tab.

Do I have to go to the Conference Center to bid on items?

Bidding can be done from anywhere you have internet access.

If I go to the event in-person, do I have to bid electronically?

Yes, all bidding will be done through the Greater Giving web platform. This eliminates unnecessary touch-points throughout the event and allows for auction participation from anywhere you have internet access.

Can someone help me get set up to bid?

Yes, ECVA staff will be available during public viewing hours to assist with bidder registration. There are also instructions on this site here.

Do I have to pay with a credit/debit card?

No, you do not have to pay with a card; however, you must contact the ECVA at (775) 738-4091 no later than 4pm Friday, December 2nd to make alternate payment arrangements.

I was highest bidder on two trees but only want one. What now?

Bidders are responsible for purchasing all items on which they are the highest/winning bidder at close of auction. Only bid on the item(s) you are willing and able to purchase.

Will Santa be at this year’s Festival of Trees?

Santa will be roaming the Festival of Trees Friday, December 2nd and Saturday, December 3rd. Please follow our Facebook page to stay up to date on when Santa will be available. Photos may be taken with Santa using your personal camera/cell phone and no fee will be charged.

Will story time be held?

Yes, story time is returning to the Festival of Trees! Please call KaCee Carroll at 775-738-3066x 232 to schedule a time for your class to participate in story time.

Why is delivery not available?

Out of an abundance of caution for the health and well-being of ECVA staff and our community, delivery is not available this year.

When can I pick up the items I won?

Pickup will be available Saturday, December 3rd from 4pm-6pm and Sunday, December 4th from 9am until 5pm.

If your questions were not answered on this page, please call the Elko Convention & Visitors Authority at (775)738-4091 Monday through Friday between 8am and 4:30pm.
