The charity partners will use their funds in the following ways:

Communities in Schools will use their portion to strengthen their Integrated Student Supports model at schools throughout Elko County. This allows for site coordinators at the schools identify student needs and connect them to resources such as clothing, hygiene items, and school supplies. Funding will also go to incentive programs and engagement activities supporting attendance, behavior improvement, and academic achievement-all critical to empowering students to stay in school and achieve in life.

 

Elko Cancer Network will use funds raised to provide financial support to those whose lives are being impacted by cancer. Financial assistance is given out to assist with the cost of medication, fuel, hotel rooms, meals, wigs, head coverings, utilities, and rent allowing those in need to focus on beating cancer. 

 

Local Animal Shelter Support Organization (L.A.S.S.O.) plans to use funds towards supporting low-cost vaccinations for pets in the community, facilitating ID chip clinics, and assisting with medical care for pets of marginalized Elko County residents. L.A.S.S.O. will continue their focus on addressing the root causes of animal welfare challenges while creating sustainable solutions for long-term impact. 

 

Newe Waipaipian Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women Awareness Group will use funds raised to support their family outreach program, provide educational workshops, produce awareness events, and facilitate community healing gatherings. Funds will also be used to provide travel assistance for families attending advocacy events as well as providing materials and resources helping promote prevention, safety, and cultural healing within their community.
